Greetings, all! Well, I've done it, I've gone out and had the bank buy me a brandie new MX-5. Ahhh, sweet bliss, thy name is Miata... Okay, now that I've gotten that out of my system... I actually bought a red '92-B w/ hardtop back in February, and have already put over 4K on it... I love the car, and am still pondering on a proper name for it. (With my last two cars named Frd (A Ford Ranger, with the 'O' missing from the nameplate) and Puff (the Tragic Wagon, a '79 Subaru), the proper name is important. ;^) One of the things that I enjoy is the comraderie that Miata owners seem to share on the road. A honk, thumbs-up, or a "wink" from the other driver always makes me smile. (I don't think I've ever gotten much but a "get-outa- da-way" look from other drivers of my other cars.) (Speaking of "wink"'s, anyone ever do something silly, like modify the light switch, so that you can raise and lower one light at a time? :^) I've been drooling of the talk about placing 6's and 8's under the hood. Can you see the look on the Mustang owner's face when you pull out? >^) However, I've decided that I want to keep my current Miata fairly close to stock. (Especially since it is currently my only car.) Improvements like better interior and trunk lights are a definite possibility. Perhaps something to replace the ashtray. (Anyone who even comes near my car with a cigarrete is asking for trouble... :^) (A question, though, how much do the turbocharge installations usually run? Both up-front and secondary costs. (Don't include speeding tickets in secondary costs, though. :^)) It's getting *very* close to the time of year when the ht is ready to come off. The weather has been trying to improve, though it's (unfortunately) been in spurts, with really nasty weather in-between. What kind of special preparation should I do before removing the top? Is a vertical position the best way to store it? Horizontal? Upside down? Should I do anything with the ragtop before putting it on the road? Does anyone know of any local clubs in Maryland? A file I took off of CIS said that the closest local Miata clubs was in Virginia... Although I love driving her, I'm not particularly fond of the DC Beltway... How about local maintenance? Scanning through the archives, it seems most of you are out on the west coast. Are there shops in the MD area who know how to treat a Miata right? Best cut this short... Basically, "Howdy!" Any comments on the 1992 model? Talking to the dealer, he couldn't give any differences between earlier models and the '92. (Looking at the archives, the '92 at least has a small cubby under the stereo (without CD) for sunglasses, etc. Any others? Especially regarding the body?)
