In the June '92 issue of _Miata Sounder_ (the Puget Sound Chapter newsletter) there is an article reprinted from the April issue of Gold Coast Chapter's newsletter _Drop Top_. The article is titled "Confessions of a First Timer" by Dick Mitchell and Dana Lestourgeon relating there experiences at their first autocross. Dick writes: One of the first cars to run is a beautiful WHITE Miata (the professional's color choice--editor's note - you only get two guesses as to what color Dana and Dick's Miata is!) driven by "Darrien the Daring" DiSimo. He is running stock class, but has equipped his sled with racing tires and a modified suspension [I assume he's referring to your shocks or other legal modifications :-) - Alan]. Darrien is an avid autocrosser and his driving skill is obvious. His Miata nimbly dances through the pylons and zips around the courners. Watching the heavier Corvettes which come after reminds us of a scene from _Fantasia_ where the elephants and hippos are attempting to ballet -- plenty of power and muscle, but no agility. But the Miata takes to the track like Baryshnikov takes to the stage -- pure poetry in motion! Later we find out that Darrien takes first place. Impressive, right? But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Way to go Darrien! - Alan
