Well, I just called the Southern California number Alan posted a couple weeks 
ago, and thought I'd pass the vehicle purchase info on to y'all, in the quest
for accurate information.  Vehicle purchase goes like this: you send them a
proposal essentially stating what you want to do with the vehicle, and your
past racing experience, and a basic justification as to why they should sell
you a Miata for a bargain price.  (She indicated that they rarely turn  a
request down.)  Cars can be purchased for $500 over *dealer cost*, not to be
confused with invoice. I said "invoice price" and she gently corrected me, "no,
what the dealers actually pay for the vehicles."  After they recieve your 
letter, in which you also state the *exact* model & options, a rep will call
to arrange shipment to your area. I assume payment is discussed at that point
too.

I'll update y'all again if/when I go for this.
