    Gee, I have a 22 Watt/Channel Proton Amp (222), 6 1/2" 2-way
Polk Audio speakers (MM10a), an Alpine pull-out CD player (7903) and no
subwoofer.  I get a satisfying, punchy bass sound, but somehow I
suspect my standards are different from Jeanne's.  (I never considered
"booming" to be a positive attribute when describing bass.)

    I believe the bass sound that I get is improved by the fact that
I've hermetically sealed the gap between the speakers and the door by
transferring the adhesive gasket from the factory blanks to my speakers.
