Hi, I have a 90 miata, and the engine started to miss about two weeks ago. I took it into my dealer and they replaced the plugs saying that they were fouled (the plugs only had around 6k on them) and they did an EGR system test that came out ok. Well the car ran better after that, but last night on the way home, it started missing again under accerlation (anything past 1/4 open throttle). I checked the timming last night (I put the jumper in place, like the Miata club mag said) and the timing was set to 10 degrees, but I noticed that as the engine was idling the timing would retard to 5 or 6 degrees and the engine would almost stall. Does anybody have any clues what might be going on. The only things I can think of would be a weak spark, or bad timing advance. Thanks Todd bernard@ncs-sun.gsfc.nasa.gov
