From: (none) Subject: lighted mirror Date: (none)
Last week I managed to seriously screw up my rear view mirror (don't ask...) so I ordered a new one from Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories (310) 657-4800. It's made by "Mighty Products," and has a pair of lights built in to the bottom of it. It's really great! When you open the door, the lights come on, and you can actually *see* the interior of your car! There are two lights, with independent switches, and the mirror is no larger than normal rear view mirrors because of it. You can't even really tell the lights are there unless they're on. It has only two drawbacks: first, it's $99, which I think is a bit steep just to get a pair of lights (unless, like me, you have recently done something stupid that requires you to buy a new mirror anyway); and second, it doesn't screw on to the mount point of the old mirror, you have to glue a new mount point on the window. This is a kind of scary thing to do, but it wasn't that hard (the whole thing only took me 1/2 hour or so) and the mirror doesn't hang any lower than the original one. It comes with all the stuff you need except a screwdriver. -- Jamie
