From: (none) Subject: '92 trunk security Date: (none)
I went on a rafting trip last weekend, and lo and behold there was another miata in our group, '92 red, just like mine. Once the trip was over and people were changing clothes for the ride home, my fellow Miatan managed to lock his key in the trunk. He also keeps his center console locked. But he quickly discovered that the lock on the center console is made of 0.5 lb tensile strength plastic. He easily popped the console open, used the trunk release, and retrieved his key. Needless to say, his console doesn't lock any more. I keep a substansial (40) CD collection in the spare tire in my trunk, and I'd just as soon have it stay there. Before I start exploring of my Miata with a pliers and screwdriver this weekend, has anybody else diconnected the center console trunk release on a '92? Where did you do it? Is it easily reconnectable? MattSkew mattsq@microsoft.com
