From: (none) Subject: car cover, new car break-in, etc Date: (none)
Well, i went out and bought a blue package a last week, and ordered an "evolution 3" cover for the car which came just yesterday. Lordy, that thing is bulky! The material is touted as a high tech wonder, but it looks about 3/16" thick, and would take up most of the trunk space when rolled up. Anyone use this type, or found covers which are a little less monsterous? anyone seen the 'lite' version recently advertised? Also, regarding the break-in period, the owner's manual (which, IMHO, is as informitive as an idiot lite ;-) suggests 1)don't race engine, 2)don't maintain one constant speed for long, 3) avoid unnecessary hard stops 4) avoid full-thottle starts - all for the first 600 miles. I read in a book by lannman (?) that the miata club (just joined, haven't heard from them yet) recommends keeping the tach between 2250-4000 for the first 1500 miles, and taking it from 2000 to 6000 in second gear every 100 miles during that period to seat the rings (?). Am i remembering this correctly, and is there more i should/shouldn't do to treat my new baby right? thanks steve --------------------------- Steve Nizyborski nizybors@nizybors.hp.com
