This is from Bix in Salt Lake City. My modem connection disallows making correctionns so deal with it to Michael at Dallas: re speakers.... your comments are about what I expect from somebody with a little experience with car audio. There's no way what- soever to justify the high cost of the Clearwater speakers. The amp is a little iffy. Absolutely top quality speakers can bo be bought for about 1/3 the cost of Clarwater's. For under $100.oo you can get great ones, and no matter what they say, I can't believe that Clearwater's are so much better. Get a catalog from Crystal Co X Sonice Crystal Sonics in Ca. (818) 240-7310. Even Crutchfield would be better than paying the big bucks. The bass is fairly well optimized in the Miata factory speaker, it will be tough to beat in a 6-1/2 inch speaker, certainly not without adding power. The midrange will be improved greatly (also treble) with any moderate quality coaxial speaker. (dual cones are junk). re: rattle... the rattle you described is something you should get fixed by the dealer, as difficult as that sounds. keep bugging them till they get paind pained. In three Miatas I didn't fing find any such rattle. re: engine hesitation.... it was hard to understand your symptoms, but go drive other Miatas. I don't think any of mine had the problems you describe. They seem pretty fluid. Don't forget, though that the intake on the Miata is very lin long and some lag is inevitable. Split-fire plugs help the lag, but their cost is a little bit bizarre, too. To Steve An: re:30K servicd.... I hate it when someone so thorough asks if there is anything else he can do... My opinion is that you should d never ever go to the dealer to get those interval service pachkages. we complain of service ripoffs then go in and ask for one at 30K miles. goofy. yeah, they'll lube your chassis. your chassis is un-lubeable! what they do is grease your bank account. If you don't do all the things at in the manual, by yourself, that is, take the car sxxx to someone who can, item per item. To Matt Skew: Miata Club of America P.O. Box 65scratch that P.O. Box 759 Lilburn Ga 30226 Automobile Magazine reports more power for the Miata in '94, a new-generation 1.8-liter engine with 125 bhp. "live now, they'll be plenty of time t'be dead later" this was Bix
