Are you serious????  I'm on my second Miata!  I only traded my Red 90 for a 91
BRG otherwise I was totally happy with the red.  In fact, When I pay off the 
BRG I may by a base just to play with.  

As Far as safety goes, in 1990 I read in one of the car magazines that the 
Miata rated as one of the safer cars on the road.  This was not a NHTSA 
(pfffft) test but another test running the car into a brick wall at 35 MPH.  
The passenger is actually safer than the driver with the air bag considering 
the steering wheel.  But who goes around running their car into a brick wall 
at 35 MPH!

Go sit in one.  Put the seat belt on.  You will feel more secure than in any 
car with motorized belts.  Plus the car handles so well to allow you get out 
of the way of idiots on the road. 

I have also read about a man and his son who emerged unscratched from a 
roll-over with the top up.  The top frame did not buckle!  You can always get 
a roll bar.  Everyone needs at least one Miata in their garage!
