Subject: Catalytic Convertor Recall....

Hi ..
 As many of you know or should have heard by now ,... there is a factory recall
 and repair notice. I received mine in the mail on SAt ( 9/19). 
So .. this morning i had the service done .

 It was a very straight forward job... took about a half hour. The bill was
$292.03 and the service rep said it would have been MORE but Mazda doesnt
 charge themselves as much as it would have been if I had the work done myself.

 Total cost to me ... $0.75 ... and a little time ...the $$ was for a coffee (;^)

The funny part was .. I have a C-Street Prepared Miata ..
So .. on one side of the cat is the Rod Millen header and on the other side
 is the HKS exhaust ... and the car is only about 2-2.5" off the ground ..
 I initially asked the guy to be very careful lifting he car up and that they
 may need some pre-ramps to get the car up.. but they have the lifts that
come in from the sides .. so that wasnt a problem.

Once the car was lifted .,..every one came around to look at my baby,
with
her belly 'all exposed'...

Anyway .. the work was completed and I left them with a new 8.5x11"
autographed photo of my car in race dress... which some guy framed
and put up in the customer parts dept.

I don't know about recommending these people for 'general' service because 
my friend & i do ALL the work on the car .. but i have been there many
times and got 1/2 can of brake fluid , and 3 oil drain plug washers .. all FREE.
i have only purchased one oil filter from them at $8-ish .... but they are 
alway VERY NICE ....

 Oh .. the place is Crystal Motors inc .. Greenbrook, NJ..
 by the way .. IF you are racing ..  I suggest joining Mazda Motorsports..
you can get all your part at SUBSTANCIAL discounts ...basically , 50% of what
the dealer charges ... for instance:

clutch disc    not sure     ~$80
pressure plate.....
 i have the Japanese version which is 'heavier ' than the US miata version
and I don't think it is available thru the dealer....
MMs charges ~$80.....
 the US has a spring rating of410kgm
the japanese   " "   "  "  of 510kgm
