From: (none) Subject: converter replacement Date: (none)
Took my '90 into the dealer yesterday to have the converter inspected. It turns out it was bad and they replaced it. I didn't expect much difference, but I am surprised by how much quieter it is. Much of the noise that I thought was coming from heat shields or the body was eliminated by the converter replacement. Since I have 56,000 miles on my car it probably wasn't a bad time to replace it anyway. I haven't noticed much (if any) increase in power, but the car doesn't buzz on acceleration like it used to. Before everyone runs out and calls their dealer this recall applies only to the first 16-17,000 1990 models. If you have not received a recall notice your car is probably OK. If you still want to know if your car is included then call your dealer and they should be able to tell you if your car is on the list or not. My dealer says that most of the people who've called them have cars not included in the recall. - Alan
