A couple more notes. I understand that the 42 inch long trailor is perfect for auto cross hauling. A "pickup box" without the wings (sold at Pep Boys and Sams Wholesale) will drop exactly into the frame area at the front of the trailor. Race tires will drop standing upright in the back part of the trailor. No other bed or box is required. If the trailor is an 8 foot folding trailor then you can build just one of the two sections as I did. I would not recomend cutting an 8 foot trailor in half. Modifications to relocate the axle and tongue on the 4 foot section only required the drilling of 16 bolt holes. No special tools other than a drill. Locate the axle just to the rear of center. You may want to have the hitch converted to a receiver by a metal worker or trailor shop as you will need a grinding and cutting wheel to cut the tongue off flush. I found no problem installing the hitch on the car. I even was able to remove it once to convert to the receiver. It was not pretty to do (new words created but no blood tranfusions required) but possible. I would not weld the nuts to the car. If it is not right the first time, then what? I hope this answers your concerns. Eric Fancher Tejas Miatas Austin, Texas
