What do I do? Living in California, this "Rain Thing" is a new experience :-)

Seriously, on the way in this morning, I noticed that the rear window doesn't 
clear too well - the water beads up on it and just stands there.   Has anyone
experimented with Rain-X or its ilk?  I haven't polished the window in a month
or so - does that help?
