On naming your Miata:  I just call mine "22cs" which is my race
number and class.  The plate says 957 161; I like the anonymity.

I've got to disagree about the "best two vehicles a child-free
couple could own" part.  My wife and I own an Audi 100CS Quattro
in addition to our Miata.  Sure, it's a four-door -- something
we could probably get along without -- but it sure is nice to be
able to carry a couple of extra folks from time to time, and the
4WD is a necessity during Chicago's balmy winter weather.  We've
also got an old VW Rabbit pickup which serves me faithfully as a
winter beater and occasional stuff-hauler.  I wouldn't want to
part with any of them.
