What exactly goes into a miata "C" package? I've heard of A, and B, and a bunch of other misc options like air conditioning, but I've never heard of a "C". I joined the mailing list a couple of months ago after my wife bought a red 1992 "C" package. I've read the archive, and I have a few questions that don't seem to have come up yet. I'll ask them in another posting. Just now, though, I wanted to say hello and thank all of you for all the great material in the archive. Karen and I like to think we have the best two vehicles a child-free couple could own: the Miata and a Toyota 4WD pickup. I guess we were influenced by a mailing-list member across the street (Sandy Meek), who also owns a Miata and a Toyota pickup. Greetings to Sandy and to the other Utah contributors, Dale Emery and Kevin Parker. A couple of old postings caught my eye, because they mentioned an old Subaru (Puff the Tragic Wagon) and the question of license plates. It was just last year I sold a 1982 Subaru (one of the great loves of my life), I got the truck, and we began to think about vanity plates. When Karen bought the Miata, the question came up again. I like John Keating's idea of calling a Ford truck "Frd," BTW, because I used to call my Maverick "Rick." Later, a Plymouth became "Katie-Q" because her plates included the characters KTQ. The Subaru seemed destined to become "Susie-Q." Anyway, Karen insists on calling the truck "Buck," and we thought a BUCK OFF vanity plate might be fun. For her part, she wants to put TOPLESS plates on the Miata. I guess both names say something about how cars can express a person's alter ego; I hadn't thought either one of us was so... expressive? I wonder: have you folks given your Miatas names? How many of you have purchased vanity plates? What did you put on the plates? You should see the Utah centennial plates: I think it's Delicate Arch with the LaSalle Mountains in the background. The design committee argued about them for over a year, but the final product is beautiful. -- | | Garry Blake | Internet: zz@unislc.slc.unisys.com | Unisys Publications | UUCP: ...!{sun, uunet}!unislc!zz | (801) 594-7140 | |
