To James Miller: The big phillips screws will not allow for adjustment. Open the latch and in the latch is a small plastic cover. Flip it open then you will see a long nut. Turn this nut to tighten the latch. Works on both tops. For those contemplating the hard top: Regardless of which top you get, latches will have to be mounted just behind the shoulder belt mount. Get the parts from the top supplier or Mazda. The mounting bosses are already installed in the body. All that needs to be done for non-hard top cars is to locate the mounting bosses and cut (very carefully) holes the shape and size of the bracket mounting surface. If you are carefull with the knife and cut just the right size, no one will ever know your car was not originally hard top equiped. (because the dealer was only going to give me about half of what the top was worth when I traded for my BRG, I kept the top, had it repainted and put it on the new car) For those wanting a top with a rear defroster, Miata Magazine recommended against it because of wiring difficulties and expense. They did not elaborate or provide a parts list. Eric Fancher Tejas Miatas Austin, Texas
