Here is a summary of some of the responses I got when asking questions about what tires to buy. I have 39K on the original Bridgestones (3 1/2 years old), and after driving in today's rain, I'll be buying new tires within the week. Btw, I'm opting for the Yokohama A509s. Josh Mereminsky NCR Corporation - E&M San Diego -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yokohama AVS Intermediates (185/60-14) appx $90ea ------------------------------------------------- "Good all around street tire - on both wet & dry surfaces" "They stick very well in the dry and are *much* better in the rain too. The only possible drawbacks are that they are just a little noisier and tend to "hunt" a little bit on worn freeways." Bridgestone Potenza RE-71s -------------------------- "Great tires - hard to find, since they have been phased out of production" Dunlop D40 M2s -------------- "Limited to 205/55-14" "I bought Dunlop D40 M2's 195/50 ZR-15. I'm not into performance driving, but the grip and road handling with the new tires have definitely impressed me. The tires are rated at the top for driving in rain and sun." Other contenders: Yokohama A509s Bridgestone Potenza HP-41s Dunlop D60 M2s These are all lower-priced, lower performance cousins to the ones I've listed above. If your money is tight or the demands you make on your tires are less rigorous, any of these -- especially the A509s -- would be an excellent choice.
