Well, all this talk about two best vehicles is great, but for those of us with kids, a third, and real car, may be needed. I have two kids, ages 3 and 6. Until recently we had the Miata, a Nissan Maxima, and a Toyota Previa. We realized that this was transportation overkill, but the Miata was not going! So we decided to downgrade the 1990 Maxima, beauty though it was. The Maxima was cursed with a lovely shifting 5-speed, which no one but myself in Souther California seemed to want. In trying to sell it, someone made us an offer on the Previa, so we sold it, losing only $2500 after driving it for two years. We currently have the Miata and a brand new Nissan Quest. While the Quest is somewhat small for a minivan, it has the great drivetrain from the Maxima, and makes sounds that are very un-minivan like. I actually enjoy driving it, unlike the larger, more practical Previa. I am currently looking for a "beater" third car. Maybe a Honda Civic or a Mazda 323/Protege. Anyone have any preferences/advice for and econo-beater? -- Oversteer is when the side Dennis Ordiway of the car hits the tree.
