From: (none) Subject: Front disc rotors - something funny going on? Date: (none)
Was out rotating the tires this weekend on my '91 Miata (15,000 miles.) While I had the wheels off I though I should check to see that things were doing OK in there. Rear brake pads and rotors - A-OK. Front brake pads appear to be OK - worn a little but still should have plenty of life. However, the rotors have little grooves worn in them that I can feel if I run my finger over the surface, whereas the rear rotors feel absolutely flat and smooth. It's nothing like what happens when you wear through a brake pad - I've seen that before. Is this just a symptom of the front brakes doing more that 50% of the work, or is there something wrong with the rotor or brake pad? -Jeff
