Steve Bruun talks about how twitchy the Miata becomes when you have a good autox alignment. Then goes on to compare it with his lamented bugeye Sprite. I happen to have a Bugeye, and a Miata. The Bugeye doesn't turn in qute as quickly, but then again it is 2/3 the size of a Miata, so it really doesn't have to. BTW, my bugeye is considerably faster than my Miata, and leaps and bounds faster than the stock 948cc power sprite (34 hp at rear wheels stock). It has close to 100 at the rear wheels, and only weighs around 1300 lbs. Of course the Miata is much more refined, but still, on a nice sunny day, with some time on my hands its a toss up as to which car I'd rather take for a spin (I also have a number of other cars to figure into the decision as well...) Anyway, here is my solution: Get the power steering miata for the fewer turns lock to lock--2.5 verses 3.8--then disconnect the power steering pump from the system by having the pump just cycle fluid through a closed loop. If you have the factory manual, it should be pretty easy to figure out from the diagrams.... -- Miq Millman miq@wv.mentorg.com miq_millman@rainbow.mentorg.com Mentor Graphics 8005 Boeckman Rd, Wilsonville OR 97070 503 685 1492 C2148
