i don't use the factory speakers.  So I've been into the speaker panels. 
Don't be afraid of pulling off the speaker panel.  Note that you don't need
to pull off the door panel.  Mazda did a very nice job of designing the
door for very easy access to the speakers.  Everything snaps on and off and
there is a push on connector for the speakers.  Don't waste money on having
someone else do this for you.  It will take literally 5 minutes.
