I have the mazda 6-cd changer in my trunk (I believe it is made by sony).
In a year of driving, it has only skipped on me three times.  It doesn't skip
on rough roads (dirt + fist sized rocks - hoo boy offroading in an MX-5),
rail-road tracks, etc.  I skipped it once hitting a speed bump too fast, and
twice going over a pothole.  In all three situations I was much more worried
about the state of my suspension and/or tires than the skipping cd player.

The CD player did pick right up where it skipped.
