From: (none) Subject: Another valve adjuster question Date: (none)
I have a '91 Miata, and do not have any problems with noises when the engine is cold. However, after taking a few funs runs (at the local autocross) in a row, with the engine running very hard, then the engine noises begin, I also went the Miata driver's school (I recommend it to everyone if it is still around), and while racing around the track, the noise also appeared. At first I thought it was just engine knock, and then after all of the stories about the hydraulic valve adjusters, I have begun to think that it what it was, (valve noise not knock). Now I am not so sure anymore. Is the noise problem limited to cold engine starting, or is it possible that I too should get the valve adjusters replaced. Can anyone tell me that the problem is definitely not the valve adjusters. Thanks Tom Tkacik CS Miata #67 GM Research tkacik@hobbes.cs.gmr.com
