Mine is not in the trunk, but in the hood.  There are two small thunb sized
dents where I pressed down on the hood to latch it.  And I thought I was
begin careful not to slam the hood.:-(  Again, they are so small that they
are not noticable unless you look for them.

The whole car probably has four or five such dents.  You can only see if
you are looking for them, and I have gotten used to them by now.
If you own a Miata, you learn to live with them or you will go nuts.
