Kris: I have a 1990 Miata and have had no problems with the idle dropping to 300 to 400 rpm when stopping. Is the clutch fully depressed when you stop? If not the rpm will drop below idle speed. Also, if you have power steering there is a slight reduction in rpm when sitting at idle if you turn the wheel but it rapidly returns to about 800 rpm. I would be concerned about a faulty computer or sensor. Also as suggested, your idle might be slightly low and if you can raise it slightly the problem might not be significant. In any case if your car is under waranty you should have the dealer resolve the problem. Herb Samuels
