Mine doesn't buzz at all; I removed the bloody buzzer altogether! :-)
It was driving me nuts.  I did it so long ago, I can't remember whether
the buzzer is near the steering column or a relay in the engine compartment.

I have yet to lock my keys in the car - just the trunk (grrr).
