As others have said, the radio will not work without the security code.
I do not think it is possible to find out what the code is, as trying three
times and failing turns your nice useful radio into a not so useful
doorstop. :-(
It is possible to reset it, but you have to know what the current code is.

I have not given my radio a code yet, and am not sure that I care to.
But I do have another question, which is can you determine whether or not
the radio has been given a code?  The procedure to entering a code, and for
removing the code appear to be identical, without indication of which you
are doing.
