Michael, Have you ever: Used Slick 50 or another oil treatment? Let your oil changes go for longer than the recommended interval? Had your oil changes done at a Quick-Lube type place, that might use no-name brand oil? Or done anything else that might affect your oil system? It sounds to me like you are getting sludge buildup in the oil channels. You don't want to know what it takes to fix *that*. If you have done none of those things, please keep us posted. I've done all my own oil changes, at 3k intervals, and have noticed a similar problem for the last couple of thousand miles. It's not the dipstick o-ring; that leads to a smell of hot oil, and some oil smoke after a top-up. Oh, yes: how many miles do you have on your car? I'm just past 30,000. Ken Warren
