Must have soon or risk permanent frostbite! hmm, let's see, it's warm and rainy here, can i interest you? so far, i've logged 7 April Convertible Days, that compares with month totals of 5, 15, and 13 for Aprils of 1990, 91, and 92 (April 1990 was an abberation, i was out-of-state and away from my car on business). with 14 days left to go and half-decent weather, i'm on track for another total of around 14 or 15, maybe more... when i got my Miata (ordered Fall '89, rec'd March 1990), i had never ridden in a convertible before, so i wasn't really sure how i'd like it or how much i'd be able to use it, given typical New England weather. so i decided to keep statistics on how much i actually used it. to classify as a convertible day, i figure you have to actually spend at least 5 minutes driving somewhere with the top down. naturally some months' totals get affected by bad weather or activities that don't require driving, but at least it's possible to keep track of whether you're spending enough time with your car or not :-) i've found that over time, i have higher and higher tolerances for lousy weather, but my limits include rain (a little mist is ok) or temperatures under 40 degrees F. my Convertible Day Statistics for 1990-92: Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Total % of year 1990 - 5 10 23 18 20 29 16 7 128 35 1991 1 15 24 23 19 21 16 17 6 142 39 1992 0 13 23 19 21 22 22 22 4 146 40 Dec-Feb are hardtop months :-(
