FINALLY!!! It was warmer in WI than somewhere else in this country. Had fun in Indianapolis this past weekend. Was able to drive to and fro with the top down. I was actually happy to see bugs on the windshield! While I was away Spring found its way to Madison. Thanks to everyone for putting up with my almost incessant bitching!. Relevant topics: About windblocks - I've been waiting to have the wind mess up my hair. Those worried about their hair could do the crew cut thing. Seriously though, there is a guy in the Windy City chapter that has one of the plastic panels that slips over the seats and swears by it. About the Alpine alarm - Mine falsed during a thunderstorm in Indy at 4:30am. About a week ago, someone reached in a left me a note when the top was down and the alarm did not go off. My local dealer (not the installing dealer) wants to charge me labor for adjusting the alarm to work properly. Since this Alpine dealer did not do the installation they won't honor the labor part of the warranty. I even called Alpine and they reinforced the local dealer's opinion. I'm glad auto dealers aren't quite that bad. The Mazda dealer was replacing the exhaust pipe to cure the 3500 rpm rattle and found that the bolts on the catalytic converter were broken. So far the rattle is gone (unless I get *really* anal and listen very intently). About my brake fluid leak - new reservior, so far no new problems. The body shop (that the paint repair was sent to) did not clean or paint the underside of the booster and there is overspray and the colors don't quite match. When I picked up the car I found a spare screw sitting on the vavle cover. I looked, but can't find the place it came from. Since I was going to Indy I didn't have the time to leave it with the dealer to correct the problems. I've been very patient with the dealer (giving them lots of second chances, etc), but I think it may be time to be *real* assertive. While in Indy I was able to watch some track testing. Anyone want to make a Miata racer for Indy racing? ;-) -amp-
