If you want to receive back copies of your messages to the list you must
have set ACK as your mail option (i.e. send "set miata mail ack" to
miata-request@jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu).  The default when you subscribe is
NOACK, in which case you don't receive back copies of your messages to the
list.

As far as the replies go... most mail-readers will offer an option to
"send mail to all recipients" which really means theyu send it to both
the "From:" address and the "To:" address.  The "To:" address on all mail
you receive from the list shoudl be the whole mailing list.
