From: (none) Subject: RE: Buying a Miata Date: (none)
I had a similar problem when I ordered my miata, and I don't think my combination of options was all that rare (red, everything on it except automatic trans). I bought my miata through a buying service, which got me a good deal on every option installed at the factory, but not at the dealership. I ordered the car in early January '92, and basically waited until a car that met my specifications arrived in the Port of Tacoma. It was quite a pain getting close calls from the dealer ("well, we got one that has everything but the AC, and I could install that here for $XXX + $YYY + $ZZ"). Finally in late March '92 a car arrived that met my specs, the dealer had it sent to his lot, and I bought it that afternoon. So, when ordering a specific option set on an imported car, you can either (1) wait, (2) get a car that doesn't quite match what you want, or (3) pay to have car #2 modified to your spec. Yes it is a pain, but no you aren't alone. MattSkew mattsq@microsoft.com
