[This is basically a California-Only Flame, so those of you in New York and Wisconsin can smirk along with me. Until the snow melts, that is... I've been thinking about this for several days, but the two miatas I passed on the way in to work triggered the typing-instinct. ] Why did you buy a Miata? If you wanted a coupe you should have gotten one. The whole point to the miata is TOP DOWN DRIVING. Didn't you ever notice that the visibility in the miata is a bit limited, with those huge c-pillars, and the plastic rear window? This is easily solved by PUTTING THE TOP DOWN. Try it, you might like it. See your owners manual if you don't know how to drop the top. Page 2-22 and following in my '91 Owners Manual - yours is probably on or near the same page number. In My Not-So-Humble opinion, there is only two kinds of weather in california, "Rain" and "Top Down." Since the former is just about over for the next six or seven months, that makes it "Top Down" time. Maybe you should go back and look at the nice MX6 Mazda is selling these days - it even has a back seat! And no nastly, loud soft top to drown out your Barry Manilow tapes with road noise. Trade in your miata so someone who doesn't care if their hair gets messy can enjoy it. Remember to take your tapes with you to the new car. [flame off - or at least a little throttled back some...] How many of you see other miatas running around in perfectly good sunny weather with the tops up? I just don't get it, I guess. The miata heater is more that enough to keep me warm, even after dark. Another week of rain-less weather and I'll be moving to my summer mode, which is top stowed permanently under the boot, and the car-cover to keep it clean. I find covering the car takes only a few seconds more than putting the top up, and the whole car stays a lot cleaner, not just the interior :-) Grumpily, Brad "Only 96 more hours 'til the next autocross" Martinson
