Even an early issue of the MCA magazine said that you should find the redline after the proper break-in period. The first time it happened to me was on a freeway on ramp. I wasn't expecting it and it scared the crap out of me for about 2 seconds until I realized what had happened. If nothing else it's worth finding the rev limiter just to get familiar with how it cuts in.
