I just received a car alarm kit from Crutchfield (CS8801) and will start installing it this weekend. I'd like to hear ya'lls comments on installation ideas. I have such questions like: (1) best place for CPU, (2) best place for horn, (3) where to tap into the low voltage ignition wire for the kill circuit. I haven't received my copy of the shop manual and wiring diagrams so any suggestions on routing and tapping wires would be helpful. While I'm here I'll respond to the discussion about Miata availability and price. Two weekends ago my wife and I went to a dealer here in Houston. On the lot was a black '93 w/ C pkg but with automatic. He said that the same car without auto would be about $500 dollars less and he could sell it to me for $1,600 less than sticker. Much to my wife's chagrin (we went to look at a used Miata) I said that if he would sell me one for that price I'd buy it right then. Within 30 minutes we had made a deal and 3 days later (Tues eve.) I picked up the car. The take home message is don't let them tell you your car is hard to get, etc. And, while I'm here I'll respond to the "Top Down" discussion. I live in Houston. We have a lot of "top down" weather. I drive with a cap on to save the hair-do. But I will drive with the top up later this summer when the temperature is 95 degrees and the humidity is 95%. You guys wouldn't drive with the top down if it was -10 degrees and cloudy would you? Leave these people that want to drive with the top on alone. They probably have their reasons. That's all for now. If you have info on alarm installation please respond soon since I'm anxious to get started. H. David Shine hshine@bcm.tmc.edu
