My LSD turned to silly putty at 31K miles. 

Paul Gumbino, a SFR region and BAMA member has a CSP Miata that also had the
LSD go south.  I have heard of 5 or 6 other diffs besides James' that have
also turned into silly putty.  Most were not as spectacualar a break as James
had.  BTW, when my diff broke, I replaced it with a stock one I bought used
for $50.  These days I have the Millen LSD in the car.  It works great, and I
have no problems with it.
