Hello,
According to the May 17 issue of AutoWeek (page 4), Mazda's M2 division 
is considering putting out a high performance coupe version of the Miata. 
 If it goes to production, they say it'll have 1.8-2.0 liter engine,160 HP, 
tweaked suspension, 88 lbs less weight, etc.  Price would be around (ahem) $
32K (!!!).  Limited 
production run of 1000 for the Japanese market, but maybe (with Mazda 
taking over) more if interest is sufficient for US market sales.  Maybe the
 price would come down, too.  The pictures look pretty cool.  It looks sort
 of like a minature Ferrari Daytona Coupe. The oval grille openning is gone,
 replaced by an air dam with a rectangular hole.  I like it!  Anybody else 
want to write to Mazda on this one?
