I second that.  I've just recently started autocrossing my bone-stock '91
(street tire pressure and allignment even), and I was able to immediately
go fast with plenty of confidence.  I still have alot to learn - I'm not
really getting up to speed until the third run - but I'm having a blast. 
I must be having fun to be willing to drive from Baltimore to Harrisburg
at 7:30 on Sunday morning to run in the first heat (the only one available
by the time I called to register)!

At my first event, somewhat to my embarassment, I ran faster than the guys
who took me there.
