From: Subject: Stalling Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1993 11:44:30 -0400 Over the past two weeks, my miata (92b) has begun stalling when I stop. Quite disconcerting, especially when trying to catch the eye of the young lady in the miata next to you... It doesn't always stall, but when it doesn't, the tach drops down severely. This happens with or without the AC on... Any thoughts? At idle - in your driveway - try unplugging the Idle Speed Control (ISC), and then plugging it back in. Revs should go up to approx. 1200 and then drop back down when you plug it back in. If after doing this the problem goes away for a while, you are probably suffering from a sticky ISC. See the ISC section in the shop manual. You'll need to use pliers to reach the ISC plug/connector under the throttle body. Other potential problem areas are the idle dashpot, air valve, and throttle position sensor. Ah, if only the Miata had a dual-carb setup!
