From: boyle@cactus.org (Craig Boyle) Subject: Optimizing Shift Points - Info required Date: Tue, 29 Jun 1993 11:01:07 -0400
Using the formulae described in the Automath Handbook by John Lawlor I'm trying to compute the optimal shift points for a Miata. Does anyone known Miata torque and hp ratings through the rpm range, say from 2000-7000 in 200-500 rpm increments. I need this data for accurate computation. My normal heuristic for this kind of car is to shift at very high rpm hoping to hit the peak of the torque curve. I want to figure out what the "truth" is as near possible before visting a dragstrip.
