Nothing to be embarassed about.  If it works, use it.

I have a question to those who use car covers frequently.  Do you always
remove the antenna before putting on the car cover, do you have a power
antenna that is down, or do you simply throw the car cover over
the antenna?

Removing the antenna seems a pain.
Buying a power antenna seems costly.
Throwing the car cover on the antenna seems a good way to ruin it.
