David Perlmutter says: "Can I get an update on the use of Splitfire sparkplugs? I bought a set (at a reasonable price mail order) and requested the dealer install them when he did the 30,000 mile checkup. He told me that he would not install them because they were getting inconsistent results, such as skipping and misfiring. I thought the article in the Miata magazine said they would be OK and would boost output power. Am I missing something?" I would guess that the dealer is upset because they can't sell you their own plugs at a large mark-up. I have used split fires for almost 2 years and 20k miles with no problems at all. I took them out to clean them last month and they were almost as new with no signs of uneven fire or deterioration. I'd say go for it, with or with out the dealer. It will not void your warranty.
