Can anyone tell me a benchmark I can use, >i.e. at 3000 rpm in 5th, what speed should I be doing ? Andy's method will get you to do something that you need to do anyway. :-) But if you don't feel like redlining your engine just yet, 3500 r.p.m. in 5th should put you at about 65 m.p.h., if memory serves.
