I've had the same problem with my '91 since about a year old; it just hasn't
seemed important enough to take back to the dealer, since he's about 300 miles
away. And since Florida, in its own bizarre wisdom,  doesn't consider a state 
inspection program important, there are LOTS of inoperative lights out here!
