The shorter wires and changed > connectors will force me to do some wire splicing though. During removal of the faulty switch I discovered that my car actually had switch (b), not (a) as I suspected. I was confused because the neutral switch and the back-up light switch are right next to each other and I traced the wrong wires on my back under my car using the mirror.... Okay, well, so at least I didn't have to do any wire splicing. Replacing the switch was trivial and as far as I know (it's hard to see one's own back-up lights from the driver's seat) all is well. PS -- I am going "off the air" today. I'll resubscribe just as soon as I can, but in the meantime don't panic if mail to me bounces.
