From: "Mary W. Garren" Subject: ugly noise Date: Fri, 18 Jun 1993 14:49:22 -0400
Dear Mechanical Wizards, I own a '90 Miata and am mechanically challenged. I do none of my own work but keep my cars maintained by experts regularly. It is not time for any regular maintenances but I need to know if a noise I am experiencing is, in your opinion, indicative of a problem that needs immediate attention. When I reduce pressure on the accelerator, I hear a sound that is a sort of rattle coming from somewhere in the front half of the car. It seems to happen in all gears and it is not related to a need to gear down. I have 38,000 miles on the car and it has had a 30,000 mile maintenance. The car runs fine except for this noise and I wouldn't worry but these cars are supposed to sound right. Thanks in advance for your advice. You may send your responses directly to me at MWG@UNCMVS.OIT.UNC.EDU. Mary Garren
