Aside from the usual longevity improvement, I think (though I could be wrong on this) that (at least with Bosch's platinum design) you gain a wider heat range too. Could it have something to do with the reduced thermal mass of the center conductor? If so, that might be an advantage in a supercharged engine (especially a turbocharger). -Andy (techno geek wannabee...)
