I don't think it can be retro-fitted easily -- it requires different brake
plumbing, just for beginnings.  Not to mention relocating the
windshield-washer...  :-)

I believe that '91 was the first year that ABS was available on the Miata.
Going on my experience when buying, I don't think you'll find a used Miata
with ABS that doesn't also have packages B and/or C and even a hardtop.
That was just they way they expected them to sell so they configured them
that way.  I had to search far and wide to find one w/o the hardtop.
