Herb Samuels writes: "The exhaust sound and slight increase in power of the Borla muffler are appealing. I have three questions. How much louder do you think the Borla is compared to the stock muffler?" Lots louder. It's about as loud as the Walker muffler I had prior to the Borla. But the note is more pleasant. I should say that I've removed some sound insulation from under the rear shelf behind the seats so I could put in my roll bar. I've also got a couple of large holes in the shelf going straight through to the trunk for the same reason. So I've got a different interior resonant behavior than stock. Don't have a sound meter, but in my car there's a definite increase in levels which may be too loud for some folks. "How much did it cost and where did you buy it?" It cost me $299 and comes in two pieces: a SS muffler section and the SS connector pipe to the converter. The connector pipe has SS heat shields spot-welded to it to protect the differential. It also comes with a SS muffler clamp, but no new rubber doughnuts. Fit was so-so. Could have been better. I got it through Mazda Performance Buyers Club 1-800-358-4093. I think the price represents about $100 bucks off list. "Finally, there was a past post by someone indicating that were planning to install a Borla muffler but they had installed a Trackbar and wondered if the design shape or size of the pipe from the catalytic converter to the muffler might impinge on the Trackbar. In some cases the stock muffler does but this can be adjusted. Has anyone installed a Borla and a Trackbar who might answer this question?" I have the Track bar and it wasn't much of a problem getting the Borla to fit. I had much more difficulty with the Walker. -Al
